Devlog #4 Progress update: September 2022

September's here, so I guess it’s time for a little progress update.

To start off, a quick reminder that the extended demo was released just last month. Be sure to check it out if you missed it. 🥰

As for the biggest update this month, I just finished programming the last part of the game before the final clash. (yay) It's still just a draft version that needs more work, but it's there and it's playable so that's good enough for now. 😊

The next step will obviously be the finale.  I’m planning to make that last bit mostly interactive, which will considerably cut the need for dialogue. It also means I only need to write a few more scenes and a nice ending for each path and I’ll be done with the base script. (there’s still a bunch of dialogue to be written for this ‘hangout system’ I came up with, and one (?) bonus route, but that can wait until part one’s release) (and then it’s just edits, edits, edits…) So that will be my focus for the rest of the year.

CG-wise, I’m currently at number 47 so it's safe to assume the full release will have between 50 and 60 of those. I'm slowly shading everything and adding backgrounds, but at least all the CGs from part one and most from part two are ready to go. 👌 (unless I'm hit with a sudden urge to add some more, which is not that unlikely orz)

I’m also thinking about changing the resolution of the game for the big release. It's something I’ve been wrestling with from the very beginning, to be quite honest. I personally like it as it is (‘cause I like how it looks and it’s easier to focus on changing facial expressions with a smaller window). But I do realize that the windowed mode might be distracting for some people and the full screen is more immersive, and that’s why I’m most likely going to upscale everything. Not sure how big it's going to be (I could go up to 1920 with the images I have, but then the final package would end up quite heavy) but there’s still some time to decide, so we’ll see. I would appreciate feedback if you have any. 😊

That's all for now, make sure to follow me on Twitter for casual updates and more game art! 🥰
