Devlog #1 The overview


Hi! Thank you so much for checking out Quaint! The demo is now released so I thought I'd post an overview of the project and share the progress so far. ^^


[About me and the game]: I'm a subtitler/translator by trade and this is a passion project I've been working on for just over two years. The writing, programming, and artwork are all done by me, and the music is being composed by my very talented SO (also a subtitler). The game touches on a bunch of topics that are personally important to me (and sometimes based on my own experiences, too). The story itself revolves around the themes of seeking acceptance for who you are and finding your place in the world. All of that paired with a healthy dose of romance, internal struggles, and an overarching conflict to spice things up. All in all, I've put a lot of work and heart into making something I'd enjoy myself.  I really do love this game and the characters so much and I hope that it shows in the final product. Suffice to say, what started off as a short story is now a 120k+ words' worth of interactive experience with original music, around 900 sprites, and over 40 CGs.

[Progress]:

The game will be released in three parts and the first is planned to launch at the beginning of 2023.



As you can see, even though I've only just released the demo, the game is actually in the advanced stages of completion. The reason for this is that I wanted to finish writing the entire script before launching anything to make sure there were no inconsistencies. The decision to share the demo was a bit sudden, to be quite honest, but I'm very thankful to everyone who gave it a try and showed support for the game. <3 Right now, my plan is to complete the script before the end of the year. From there, I will have to finish work on Part One: make small edits to the dialogue, fix some timings, tweak the minigames and polish the details. I honestly can't wait to release it already and share this story with the world. ^^

[Plans for the nearest future]:

I'm already working on an extended demo I'm planning to release around mid-August to September this year. I'm fairly happy with the current version, but I want to cover a bit more of the story and expand on the characters before the full release.  (and hopefully, find some time to work on the menus, as well orz)
